WHAT IS A FREELANCER

WHAT IS A FREELANCER?

A freelancer or a freelance worker is a term used for a person who is self-employed and is not necessarily committed to a particular company or employer in a long term basis.

A freelancer is usually represented by a company or an agency that supplies freelance labor to clients; other freelancers work independently or use their own website to get work or clients.

Freelancers may work part-time or full-time depending on the job that they are offered, because they are not considered as employers, freelancers are allowed to work for other employers and most of the time are usually permitted to do tasks their own way as long as the work gets done and satisfies their client's needs.

As freelancers gain more and more experience and skill in the field in which they specialize (May it be in Virtual Assistance, Graphic Design, Software Development, Animation, IT, Sales and Marketing, Admin Support, Customer Service, and Etc.), they can command higher rates for their work.

More and more business, especially in the US and UK are becoming open to the idea of using freelancers to get work done as it saves them money without having to hire permanent employees, which would cost them a lot of money in benefits and salaries. Outsourcing freelancers is a good way to get the job done in an efficient manner.

The demand for these skills are increasing everyday, you help other companies by saving them money, in return they pay you with the compensation you deserve! its a win-win situation for the both of you. Being a part-time freelancer means that you could get a day job and can still earn extra $$$$ money from being freelancer. Mind you, the freelancer industry is a Billion Dollar Industry, the demand for freelancers is increasing, so why not join in on the job pool with other great freelancers?

So what are the Advantages of being a FREELANCER:
  • Flexible work schedule- you could work at your own pace, anytime and anywhere.
  • Employment from different parts of the world- being a freelancer means you could land a job from the US even if you are in Asia.
  • Good Part-time and Full-time opportunities- Depending on your schedule, you could work either part time or fulltime.
  • If you have a skill, you can earn from it- whether it is Graphic Design, Software Development, Art, Photoshop, or just plain Confidence, you could use any skills you have to earn in this industry. The more skills you have, the better your chances of landing a good career in freelancing.

What about Disadvantages of being a FREELANCER?

  • Casual Labor- your earning potential depends on the work you are doing. NO WORK NO PAY. There is a lack of job security in freelancing.
  • No Benefits- Freelancers do not receive the benefits of regular employees, like healthcare, pension, sick leave, paid holidays and etc. But if you are doing this part-time, why worry?
  • Freelancers earn less than employed counterparts- This is the reason why businessmen opt to hire freelancers in the first place, its to save them money but look at the upside, they provide people with the opportunity to earn some cash.
Do you think the Advantages outweigh the Disadvantages? If you think so, why not try freelancing on your downtime, for you to earn some cash.

If you a full-time mother, a student who needs cash, a person who cannot land a job and etc. Then freelancing might just be the thing for you.
